chipmunk? mouse?

Yoshinoya Marina Square

this is a very ugly photo. alignment is off, colour is off, focus is off... but the chipmunks (or whatever) are very cute. collect "coins" to redeem for free stuff!

Fujifilm 9500
f2.9 1/15s iso400

not a very good product shot, but i dont care. too excited to have a new phone. a japanese phone too. toshiba! finally i can have a decent camera phone that i can use to take photos during the day.

and what better way to celebrate buying a japanese phone, than to go eat japanese! best sashimi i've ever eaten somemore. sashimi taken using my new camera phone. nice right? too bad i didnt set the resolution properly, so it is kind of small. but the resulting colours are really good for a camera phone.

basking ah pek

Chinatown, Singapore
f3.6 1/7s iso800

The famous basking ah pek in singapore. I think most people have seen him before, chinatown, orchard, shenton way, all over the place. Not a very good shot. Basically I've only got a few seconds before someone else walk in front of my, or i get pushed by aunties. took like 6 shots altogether, but more than 1/2 gone case. dont want to use flash because that will mean the background people gets "blackout".

Quite pitiful, so old already still need to work so hard non-stop all day. somemore still kanna chase by the MRT people... luckily got one uncle help him say good words and pacify the mrt guy.

victorian style fountain right here in the city

Tan Kim Seng Fountain, Singapore
Fujifilm 9500
f8 9.85s iso80

Taken from the sign at Esplanade Park

"This Victorian cast-iron fountain has been part of Singapore's urban landscape since 19 May 1882. It was commissioned by the Municipal Council in honour of Tan Kim Seng (1805-1864)."

"Tan Kim Seng was born in Malacca and moved to Singapore to work as a trader. He prospered and became a respected leader of the Chinese Community. He was the second Asian, after Tan Tock Seng, to become a Justice of the Peace. A philanthropist, he supported numerous causes, especially education, and was the benefactor of the Chinese Free School in Amoy Street."

"During his lifetime, one of the major problems of the town was its inadequate water supply. Tan Kim Seng donated a generous sum of money to support the construction of a system to provide piped water to the town. The ambitious plans were only implemented after his death."

"In recognition of his farsightedness and community spirit, the Municipal Council dedicated this fountain in his memory some 18 years after his death. Originally located in Fullerton Square, it was moved to this site in 1925 when construction of the Fullerton Building commenced."

Telok Ayer Green, Singapore
Fujifilm 9500
f4 0.91s iso800

was actually trying to take photos of the tian hock temple. but the place is closed, and the lightings is not very good, somemore got a stupid van park in front. so cannot find angle. end up take this, a place next to it, a small little green "lung" in the heart of the city. it actually look nicer in the day, and in reality not so bright at night.

vivocity

VivoCity Singapore
Fujifilm 9500
f2.8 1/27s iso800

Singapore's latest place to hang out. feels bigger than suntec. got a 15 screen golden village cinema too. but almost 40% of the shops are not open yet. this is going to be a good place to hang out with lots of cafe and places to shop.

rooftop playground and rooftop garden, complete with a rooftop pool. nice.

the food republic food court at the top floor. the deco is nice. the music is nice too. even the people selling the food look like they are from the 60s (certainly hope the hygen is modern day standard.. some things i see are best left out of blogs) and its not as cramp as the one at wisma. some seats have nice view too.

Sunset

Sunset, Singapore
Nikon Coolpix L4
f4.9 1/50s iso50

the sunset, with the bit of haze, actually cause a nice little sunset to appear near the place i live (with the new flats under construction). A pity, since this is only roughly equivalent to a 90mm lens.

marsh land

Marsh Garden, Singapore
Nikon L4
f2.8 1/177s iso50

found this little place at in the west. who would have thought! a marsh land right in the middle of residential area! dont worry. this place is totally safe, no crocodiles to battle with here. but got lots of fish.... very peaceful place, until mosquitos come and keep you company.

today's highest psi is only 63, but the sky is covered by one giantic white cloud. no blue sky again.

see! i think it used to be marshmallow garden, until someone erased the rest of the letters....

west coast

west coast, singapore
Nikon L4
f2.8 1/136s iso50

my camera can capture blue sky perfectly well, but there's no blue sky to capture today. all grey and hazy. irresponsible indonesians....

today's highest psi so far is 81, but it is worse near the coast because it is nearer to indonesia i think.

innovationation

innovationation, expo, singapore
innostream A10 camera phone

play, touch, and learn exhibition.
we had a first look at this exhibition. not bad. but i think some of the technology featured are not very reliable yet (or is it cos its not been tune properly yet?) i personally think this exhibition is very matured and abstract, and need a fair bit of imagination on the visitor part. so kids should stay away...

fire too!

Tanjong Pagar, Singapore
Fujifilm 9500
f3.6 6.5s iso80

this is not photoshopped. the sky u see as well as the "romantic" light ray from the lights are real. the haze is so bad (blame indonesia's firest fire) you can smell smoke everywhere you go. especially bad at tanjong pager, just next to the sea. i thnk the psi is above 100...

i know a photo a day, but today got supplement. :)

bad isnt it...

they just stare at the fire... i only got 2 shots of kids waving and swinging the sticks around....
